Abingdon School is a leading independent day and boarding school with around 1000 pupils aged 11-18. The School is situated in 35 acres of beautiful grounds in the centre of Abingdon, just south of Oxford.

Digital Communications and Events Officer – The Role:

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic candidate with strong communications, digital, and social media management skills and some experience of event management. Although the role is envisaged to work full time all year round, we are happy to consider requests for flexible working. There is also the possibility of working reduced weeks on a term time plus arrangement and some work from home is also permitted.

Digital Communications and Events Officer – Key Responsibilities:

  • Grow online communities, write and design engaging editorial
  • Cultivate key relationships with our alumni (Old Abingdonians) and wider school community
  • Gain and develop digital marketing, editorial, events and fundraising expertise in an experienced team with opportunities for personal and career growth.

Digital Communications and Events Officer – You:

  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent work experience
  • Experience of planning, organising and managing events
  • Experience of managing online and social media communities and writing for publications
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills in order to engage and work with alumni, parents, colleagues and other members of the wider Abingdon community
  • Excellent written skills (grammar, spelling, punctuation) Excellent all round IT skills, including competence with all aspects of MS Office (including mail merge and Excel), the full suite of Google business tools An interest in, and demonstrable capability relating to, the evolving digital marketing
  • An eye for detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Displays commitment to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion
  • Displays commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children and young people
  • Values and respects the views and needs of children and young people
