Penguin recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading UK property consultancy, who are seeking a motivated and experienced Town Planner or Senior Town Planner to join a thriving Manchester office. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team working on a diverse portfolio of planning projects across the North West.
The Role
As a Town Planner or Senior Town Planner, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality planning advice and managing a variety of projects, from initial feasibility studies through to securing planning permissions. You will have the opportunity to work on both large-scale and smaller bespoke developments, helping to shape the future of urban and rural areas across the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing and submitting planning applications for a range of development projects, including residential, commercial, and mixed-use schemes.
- Conducting site appraisals and feasibility studies to inform client decisions.
- Liaising with local authorities, stakeholders, and the public to navigate the planning process.
- Advising clients on planning strategies and policy changes.
- Preparing and submitting planning appeals, and representing clients at hearings and public inquiries.
- Supporting the planning team with business development initiatives and client relationship management.
Experience & Qualifications
- RTPI membership or working towards Chartered status is preferred.
- 2-5+ years of experience in a planning role, ideally within a consultancy or local authority environment.
- Strong understanding of the UK planning system, with experience in managing planning applications and appeals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively within a team.
- A proactive, client-focused approach with a keen interest in developing your career in planning.
