Deputy Ward Manager

We are currently recruiting on behalf of one of the UK's leading providers of behavioural care and specialist support services for a Deputy Ward Manager / Charge Nurse based within an independent hospital in Cheadle.

The hospital offers a range of comprehensive inpatient mental health services for young people and adults. The focus of our service is to help people to live their best life in a safe and supportive environment.

The acute mental health units for adult male and female patients offer a 24-hour admission service to support local NHS services and PICU wards. The ethos of the acute wards is to provide support in a crisis and offer therapeutic engagement during the in-patient stay. The specialist inpatient acute teams are committed to providing the highest quality of care, supporting patients with a wide range of mental health conditions, such as schizophrenia, personality disorder, depression, bipolar disorder and other diagnoses, in safe and highly therapeutic environments.

The role of the Deputy Ward Manager is to provide senior nursing leadership to the ward nursing team in support of the Ward Manager. The duties of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting the Ward Manager in providing day to day management and supervision of the ward
  • Assisting the Ward manager in providing management and supervision of a team of registered and unregistered staff.
  • Implementing best practice across the ward
  • Support changes within the service
  • Responsible for the clinical direction of the service
  • Support the delivery of personalised care and contribute to service improvement
  • Supporting and contributing to MDT practice
  • Implementation and evaluation of therapeutic interventions within an overall care programme
  • Assisting the ward manager in ensuring that care and treatment is provided meets the standards set by regulators.

This is a full-time permanent post and offers a competitive salary of £40,014 - £43,313.92 per annum DOE + £5,000 welcome bonus + Enhancements

We are inviting applications from candidate who meet the following criterea

  • Active Registration with the NMC, meeting the requirements of Revalidation Trained Mentor
  • Clinical Supervision experience essential, training desirable
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development and intent to maintain and develop Continued professional development and leadership
  • Highly developed communication skills
  • Good computer skills
  • Experience in Mental Health or Learning Disability services
  • At least 3 years, or equivalent experience post-registration
