Working Hours; 08:30 am - 16:00 pm.
Salary: Paid to teacher scale.
Job Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Career Teacher (ECT) to join our dynamic team. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children with special needs. As the main class teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, individualized education to our students, fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.
We are working with a dedicated Special Needs School committed to providing exceptional education and support to students with a range of special needs, including Autism, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) issues, and complex needs. Our mission is to create a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child can thrive and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Classroom Management: Lead a class of students with varying special needs, maintaining an organized, safe, and stimulating classroom environment.
- Lesson Planning: Develop and implement tailored lesson plans that meet the individual learning needs and goals of each student.
- Assessment: Regularly assess and monitor student progress, adapting teaching methods and materials to support diverse learning styles and needs.
- IEPs: Contribute to the development and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for each student, ensuring their educational goals are met.
- Behavioral Support: Implement and support positive behavior strategies, working closely with other staff to manage and address challenging behaviors.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and other professionals to provide a holistic approach to student education and wellbeing.
- Parent Engagement: Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers, providing regular updates on student progress and working together to support learning at home.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in special needs education.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or working towards achieving QTS.
- Experience or a strong interest in working with children with special educational needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special needs.
Desirable:
- Previous experience in a special needs school or similar setting.
- Knowledge of Autism, SEMH, and complex needs.
- Experience with alternative communication methods and adaptive teaching tools.
