This brand new Assistant Accountant role within this PE backed organisation, is a great opportunity if you are looking for variety, challenge and scope to develop from within.

Here is a snapshot of your responsibilities in the role :

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bank Account Management: Post and reconcile group bank accounts
  • Invoice Management: Raise adhoc invoices and manage the creation and import of large consolidated invoices.
  • Credit Control: Conduct timely credit control of all invoices raised.
  • Account Creation: Create new ledger accounts as required.
  • Contracts and Agreements: Raise and issue new contracts/service level agreements as needed.
  • Customer Communications: Distribute communications to our customer base as necessary.
  • Journal Entries: Post journals to the nominal ledger, including monthly accruals and prepayments.
  • BACS Runs: Raise weekly BACS runs for approval by the Management Accountant and upload to the banking system once authorised.
  • Supplier Remittances: Issue remittances to suppliers.
  • Month-End Procedures: Complete month-end shutdown procedures, including closing down group ledgers and transferring data to the nominal ledger.

Month-End Accounts Responsibilities:

  • Fixed Asset Register: Update for additions/disposals.
  • Depreciation Journals: Post depreciation journal.
  • Prepayment Management: Prepare prepayment journal and maintain prepayments list.
  • Accruals Management: Prepare accruals and post to the nominal ledger.
  • Management Accounts: Support in compiling the management accounts pack and investigating variances.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Essential:

  • AAT Qualification or relevant experience.

  • Willingness to pursue further qualifications (CIMA or ACCA) with study support.

  • Excellent knowledge of MS Excel and accounting software.

  • Experience with financial software (Pegasus Opera preferred).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook).

  • Understanding of data privacy standards (GDPR).

  • Desirable:

  • Business studies or business management qualification.
