Chief Welding Engineer

Our client are a major manufacturer who subcontract out some of their complex welding activities. They wish to appoint a Welding Engineer to provide technical direction and management of all Welding Engineering activities in accordance with International and European Standards including: ASME IX, BS EN ISO 287, 719, 15607, 15609 and 15614, ensuring Health, Safety, Environment and Quality is maintained on site and that product delivered from suppliers is of a standard that end user customers will approve of.

Welding Engineer - Role and Responsibilities - Fabrication, Weld, ISO, Quality Assurance, QA, Suppliers

  • Prepare and submit weld procedures to customers and inspection bodies etc via QA
  • Technical review and approval of supplier weld procedures
  • Provide strategic direction for welding department with regard to equipment and processes. Raise capital expenditure justifications as required
  • Participate in product design reviews and provide expert welding advice.
  • Interface with supply chain and ensure that cubcontracted fabrications are of the appropriate quality
  • Lead technical authority for authorisation of weld test certificates and conformance certificates
  • Visit suppliers and customers to assist in welding related problem resolution

Welding Engineer - Education / Experience - Fabrication, Weld, ISO, Quality Assurance, QA, Suppliers

  • An experienced Welding Engineer with an excellent working knowledge of welding codes and interpretation of same
  • Qualified in Welding Engineering or a suitable metallurgical discipline to Degree or HNC level
  • Qualified Welding Inspection and NDE competence advantageous
  • Driving Licence
