Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant- September 2024
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant.The successful candidate will work with students who have challenging behaviours and some children may be non-verbal.
Staff will work with individual students or small groups to assist them to access balanced, fun, relevant and functional curriculum. The students have a range of learning difficulties and needs, including some physical or sensory needs and students present challenging behaviours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Employ a range of teaching strategies and interventions to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Utilize alternative communication methods and tools to support non-verbal students.
- Collaborate with other educators, specialists, and families to support student progress.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively, using positive behaviour support strategies.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children who have challenging behaviours is desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with children with special needs.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a team and build strong relationships with students and families.
Promoting good communication skills is a key element of the role; good spoken and written English skills are essential.
Some of the students require additional support and assistance; this may mean assisting students with personal care, helping to implement physiotherapy programmes or supporting students to understand and regulate their emotions and behaviours.
Location- Luton
Must be avaliable Monday -Friday 8:30am-3:30pm
