Teaching Assistant

If so, we have a teaching assistant position available for a knowledgeable individual like yourself.

We are currently accepting applications for a full-time teaching assistant post at a primary school in Plymouth. The role will become available in September 2024, or as soon as feasible, and candidates from all subject areas are encouraged to apply.

In your role as a teaching assistant, you will work one-on-one and in small groups with students, fostering social skills development, teamwork, and community support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the classroom teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
  • Support individual students or small groups to help them achieve their learning goals.
  • Prepare classroom materials and resources.
  • Supervise students during activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Provide feedback to the classroom teacher on student progress and behaviour.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Participate in school events, staff meetings, and professional development sessions.
  • Support students with special educational needs, adapting activities as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications or experience as a teaching assistant.
  • Should have a passion for working with children and helping them succeed.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other staff members.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Basic understanding of child development and educational practices.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
