Tradewind is seeking a motivated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic SEN School in St Helens starting this September!

Position: SEN Teaching Assistant, Location: St Helens, Start Date: September
Salary: Competitive, based on experience

About the Role:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide tailored support to students with a variety of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties.
  • Assist the classroom teacher in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Implement individualised education plans (IEPs) to meet each student's unique requirements.
  • Encourage and motivate students to engage fully in their learning.
  • Employ creative and adaptive strategies to ensure every child can access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support.
  • Assist with classroom management and lesson preparation.
  • Support students' social and emotional development.
  • Help with personal care tasks, if required.
  • Monitor and document student progress, providing feedback to the teaching team and parents.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs.
  • A caring, patient, and adaptable nature.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in special educational needs (desirable but not essential).
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

To be considered for this position you will:
- have previous school experience and be familiar with the SIMS system
- Be a committed professional
- Be an organised, enthusiastic proactive person
-Hold a child workforce enhanced DBS certificate which is on the update service, or be willing to apply for a new one (costs refunded back to you when you complete 20 days work)
-have satisfactory references
-have a CV must that covers the last 10 years of employment history where possible and any gaps in employment must be explained;
- Have the legal right to work in the UK.
