A leading Top 30 UK accounting firm in the City of London is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their award-winning team. The firm is renowned for providing expert advice to a diverse clientele, including entrepreneurs, fast-growing businesses, and not-for-profit organisations. The ideal candidate will have a strong business focus, a keen interest in technology, and a proven track record in public practice delivering outsourced services.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • The Senior Accountant will be responsible for delivering professional accounting services to a variety of clients, applying accounting principles.
  • They will prepare monthly/quarterly management accounts and VAT returns using a suite of software services.
  • They will assist with the preparation of annual financial statements and report key performance indicators and variances.
  • The role includes taking on responsibility for a portfolio of clients under the supervision of managers, directors, and partners.
  • The Senior Accountant may be required to travel to client premises as necessary.
  • They will delegate work to juniors, supervise their work, and ensure high-quality service delivery to clients.
  • The role offers the opportunity to engage in marketing services to clients and potential clients, with the potential for progression to more senior roles based on performance.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A strong business focus and awareness of current affairs are essential.
  • A proven aptitude for using technology and strong analytical skills are required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and delegate effectively is crucial.
  • Experience in public practice and delivering outsourced services to clients is necessary.
  • Good knowledge of VAT and strong UK GAAP knowledge are important.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Microsoft Outlook, and online accounting packages, especially Xero, is required.
  • Experience with Caseware Accounts Production Software would be advantageous.
