Financial Accountant

A prominent global organisation is seeking to recruit a Financial Accountant for a fixed-term contract of 12 months. This role involves collaborating within a team to ensure the timely, accurate, and efficient delivery of statutory and group reporting. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying opportunities to improve processes, ensuring all tasks are performed to a high standard.

Salary & Benefits:
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000
Hybrid working arrangement: 2 days in the office, 3 days from home
Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne or Rotherham

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of business reporting obligations, including statutory, group, and ad hoc reporting, both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Prepare high-standard statutory and group reporting outputs, ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of IFRS and its application.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancement and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate production of statutory and group financial reports, along with other ad-hoc deliverables as required.
  • Prepare financial statements for designated legal entities.
  • Conduct thorough technical reviews of draft statutory accounts.
  • Assist the team in managing the audit process, ensuring the smooth and timely progression of accounts.
  • Stay informed about developments in accounting standards, ensuring all statutory reports are compliant with IFRS and FRS 101.
  • Provide technical accounting support for internal group reorganisations when necessary.
  • Apply and contribute to the development of group financial accounting policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all statutory and group monthly and quarterly reporting deadlines are met.
  • Coordinate with various departments, including Tax, Treasury, and Sector leads, as well as internal and external auditors.
  • Maintain compliance with new accounting standards, seeking senior management guidance where necessary.
  • Take responsibility for your own professional development, ensuring technical knowledge remains up to date.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Part-qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA) or fully qualified
  • Strong technical accounting expertise with in-depth knowledge of IFRS
