ASEND supports SEND pupils and continues their learning while they cannot access school or don't have a school place. We are looking for a supportive and compassionate SEN tutor to support an autistic young girl in Hayes.

Role: SEN Tutor

Working hours: 3 hours per day, 5 days per week during school hours

Pay: £38 per hour

Location: Hayes

Contract: Temporary, part-time

What ASEND Tuition Is

We are looking for wonderful tutors to support children and young people with SEND in Hayes. We support pupils with SEND who may not be attending school for a number of reasons including Mental Health issues, or lack of a suitable school place. We aim to prepare them for mainstream or special school.

We support pupils of all ages face-to-face within school times, and in a range of settings including homes, schools, community centres and out in the community. Our work is completely pupil-focused and can target developing early learning, following an academic curriculum, providing emotional support or developing life skills. We need a wide range of people to support our pupils to meet their specific needs and ensure good progress. We work very hard to match each person with pupils and roles who can most benefit from their skills and expertise.

About The Pupil and role

Our pupil is a 15 year old pupil, who has a physical disability, has missed out on education her whole life. She will be needing a gentle and understanding tutor to help her towards her first steps into the world of education, support in developing her communication skills.

She is a happy and bubbly child who loves watching cartoons, playing with her favourite toys and interacting with others. We would love to find someone who can offer this pupil the right support to help her uncover opportunities in the future. A tutor who is sensitive and not afraid to start from scratch with a pupil's learning, will be crucial as our pupil has been through some hardships.

About you:

  • You'll have some experience with SEN: Physical and medical needs, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties
  • You may be an experienced tutor or teacher or have experience working with children in a therapeutic way
  • You'll have a passion for helping pupils overcome any barriers to learning and difficulties with engagement
  • You'll be good at building rapport and strong relationships with children and their families - we work closely with families to create a plan
  • Ideally, have some experience of helping children with their learning
  • Have the ability to motivate and inspire pupils
  • Use a person-centred approach in their work
  • Make the wellbeing, achievement, and progress of your pupils central to everything that you plan and do
  • Have the determination and energy to bring about continuous improvement.
