Temporary Accounts Assistant

I'm currently partnered with an industry leading Engineering business who are looking for a Temporary Accounts Assistant to join their growing finance function. This role is subject to turn permanent following the completion of a successful interim period due to further department growth.

To be considered for this position, you must have attained a finance related degree and be passionate about continuing your studies further.

What you'll do:

As an Interim Accounts Assistant, your role will be crucial in managing employee expenses, generating journals, processing payments, preparing and reconciling cash books, and supporting various credit control activities. Your meticulous attention to detail will be vital in ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded. You will also play an important role in monitoring customer accounts, ensuring timely payment of invoices, following up on outstanding debts, and resolving any related issues. Your contribution will be significant in improving financial processes and controls.

  • Manage employee expenses through Concur, ensuring precision and compliance with company policies.
  • Generate journals and process payments to employees.
  • Prepare and reconcile cash books.
  • Support various credit control activities.
  • Assist the finance team with various ad hoc tasks as needed.
  • Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Support the Finance Manager in maintaining accurate cash flow records.
  • Monitor customer accounts and ensure timely payment of invoices.
  • Follow up on outstanding debts and resolve any related issues.
  • Contribute to the improvement of financial processes and controls.

What you bring:

To thrive as an Interim Accounts Assistant, you should bring your experience from previous finance or accounting roles. Your familiarity with bank reconciliation, cash book preparation, credit control activities along with your strong understanding of accounting principles will be essential for this role. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel is required. Your excellent numerical skills coupled with high attention to detail will be crucial in managing multiple priorities. Your good communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred or currently studying or interested in obtaining accountancy qualifications.
  • Intern or work experience in a finance or accounting role.
  • Experience with Concur or similar expense management software is preferred.
  • Familiarity with bank reconciliation, cash book preparation, and credit control activities.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
