Part-Time SEN Teaching Assistant

Key Responsibilities of a SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to pupils with SEN, adapting learning materials to suit their individual needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in managing the classroom and ensuring the inclusion of all students.
  • Work closely with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other professionals to implement tailored education plans within the education and training industry.
  • Foster a positive, nurturing, and safe environment for pupils with additional needs.
  • Support pupils during learning activities, breaks, and other school activities to ensure their well-being and engagement.
  • Help prepare resources and materials to support the children's learning.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and a calm approach to supporting children with diverse needs.
  • A relevant qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3) or similar is advantageous but not essential.
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt to different learning challenges.
