Our Team

It's an exciting time for us as we grow our Financial Crime (PROTECT) team who have a critical role to play, keeping us and our customers safe. They are our first line of defence function and responsible for day-to-day financial crime and sanction risk identification, ownership, management and control.

What you'll be doing

  • Be responsible for ensuring relevant coherent and where appropriate documented advice is provided in relation to Sanctions compliance and risk management.
  • Ensure areas of concern/success are escalated appropriately via governance to provide rapid and robust conclusions.
  • Act as the escalation and decision point for sanctions advisory queries from across the first line of defence.
  • Support the Business and Economic Crime operations teams with complex sanctions investigations or sanctions related regulatory or legal queries.
  • Provide advice on sanctions screening system calibration and rule management.
  • Drive compliance with the Sanctions and risk management framework by providing subject matter expertise and technical advice on sanctions queries, approvals and escalations.
  • Collaborate with the second line of defence EC Risk team.
  • Assist with internal audit and assurance actions and response relating to sanctions.

We need you to have

  • Solid experience in sanctions and sanctions risk management.
  • Leadership experience in sanctions.
  • Broad knowledge of all Financial Crime control areas.
  • The ability to influence senior management.
  • Knowledge of financial crime and sanctions policy, standards and frameworks.
  • Knowledge of retail and corporate business, products and customer management.

It's a bonus if you have but not essential

  • ICA, ACAMS diploma or equivalent
  • Experience of advisory roles in sanctions, including on regulatory guidance regarding risk based and proportionate approaches
  • Experience of working on 1st Line or Business units within a Retail bank environment
