Helpdesk Engineer Apprentice

AIS Technology provides IT Managed services to customers between 5 – 100 employees in the UK, specialising in clients utilising the Microsoft 365 suite for email and collaboration.

Overview:
We are looking for an apprentice to join us as a Junior Helpdesk engineer in a role providing great opportunity to begin a career in the IT sector.

Our previous apprentice has been promoted within the company after completing their apprenticeship, allowing this opportunity for our future apprentice to complete the Azure / Microsoft 365 apprenticeship while working in a fast paced helpdesk environment.

The apprentice will be permitted to work remotely 3 days per week, with up to 2 days per week at our Wickford office.

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing the initial point of contact for client calls to our IT helpdesk
  • Triage of client incidents to decide appropriate escalation methods
  • Basic windows or mac troubleshooting
  • Providing changes to Microsoft 365 such as client name / job title changes
  • Preparation of new devices (e.g. laptops) for clients
  • Occasional site visits including PC / monitor moves in client offices (expenses paid)

Essential skills and attributes:

  • Excellent and friendly telephone manner
  • Some knowledge of either Microsoft windows or Apple MacOS
  • Desire to learn and willing to study for a career in IT

Preferred skills and attributes:

  • Any knowledge of Microsoft 365 or general IT networks
  • Any IT certification

Entry requirements:

  • 3 GCSE's (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
