SEMH English Teacher

Tradewind Recruitment is currently looking for an English teacher to join a therapeutic SEND school in Tameside catering for boys aged 11-16 with SEMH needs.

This is a full- time temporary teaching role from September onwards.

The Role

English teacher or SEND teacher with experience of KS2 and KS3 English

Five days a week - working hours 9am to 3.30pm (students in school from 9.30 to 3.15)

The students' timetable has an opening for an English teacher to deliver KS2, KS3 and KS4 English classes and some PSHE lessons - differentiated across a broad range of abilities and emotional needs.

Next year here will be approximately seven students in the school.

The students have suffered from significant emotional trauma and abuse, many are in care and /or have had large gaps in their education career.

Teachers are required to offer consistency and flexibility in their approach, to rebuilt trust and positive relationship with students affected by trauma.

Pupils are secondary age although they are working at much lower levels than expected for their age, including primary level.

The school welcome applications from specialist SEN teachers and secondary and primary teachers who are looking to work in a challenging but extremely rewarding environment.

  • Hold QTS Status or QTLS or an equivalent Further education teaching qualification such as PGCE Special Needs or Certificate of Education
  • This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional references checks
  • Provide a CV with a full employment/education history included and any employment breaks must be explained
  • Have the legal right to work full time in the UK
