Group Financial Controller

Role Overview:

We are representing a key hotel client of ours who are seeking a dynamic Group Financial Controller to lead a team of accounting professionals.

Reporting to the Regional General Manager and working closely with the Overseen Financial Director and operational leadership team, you will oversee the finance function and help to train, motivate, and lead the team in all key financial aspects for the hotel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with the Reginal General Manager and Operational Team to ensure the understanding of KPIs and their impact on various departments.
  • Challenging departments to improve profitability by setting goals to achieve set targets.
  • Maximise business profitability through the articulation of the commercial impacts of decisions and their effects on future business.
  • Ensuring financial controls and procedures within the hotel are robust, sustainable, and regularly updated to reflect the evolving nature of the function and the environment.
  • Overseeing monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliation, key reporting and completing month-end procedures.
  • Overseeing income, payroll, and payment tasks to ensure process consistency and completeness.
  • Overseeing the implementation of new controls as required and identifying any gaps in your findings.
  • Presenting strategy, priorities and financial matters to the executive team and other departments outside of finance.

Qualifications:

  • Experience at Financial Controller level gained from the hotel industry, or at AFC/FM level ready to step-up in your career.
  • Ideally a qualification or studying towards ACCA/CIMA/AAT.
  • Comprehensive accounting experience, ideally with self-accounting knowledge.
  • Supervisory experience with the ability to build relationships at all levels, both within and outside of finance.
