We have partnered with a leading logistics business who are going through a large transformation project and are looking to recruit a WMS Operational Lead to manage and improve operational process change and improvement and develop a knowledge of system configuration to reduce the reliance on IT for the delivery of minor changes. This a permanent role and does not offer sponsorship. All candidates must be UK based.

Responsibilities of the WMS Operational Lead.

  • Understand internal and external client requirements; propose and deliver technical solutions.
  • Document Standard Operating Procedures defining business process and system steps for Hardis WMS
  • Define UAT scenarios and complete user acceptance testing, logging defects where solution doesn't meet with defined requirements
  • Communicate changes relating to implementation of Hardis WMS to all levels within Great Bear
  • Identifying opportunities where system change can drive operational improvements, efficiencies or improved stock integrity, defining requirements to deliver system functional change that delivers the improvements identified.
  • Identifying areas of change requiring specific focus to mitigate operational risk during system cutover
  • Communicate changes relating to implementation of Hardis WMS to all levels within Great Bear
  • Identifying opportunities where system change can drive operational improvements, efficiencies or improved stock integrity, defining requirements to deliver system functional change that delivers the improvements identified.
  • Identifying areas of change requiring specific focus to mitigate operational risk during system cutover
  • Review and verify the business case for system changes/enhancements.
  • Liaise with IT BA's to define requirements, test scenarios and acceptance criteria for system changes
  • Support site colleagues as they adapt to using the new warehouse management system and associated process change.
  • Oversee testing and quality assurance efforts to ensure the integrity and reliability of the implemented solutions.
  • Identify opportunities and drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise implementation processes and enhance overall efficiency.

Skills required for the WMS Operational Lead.

  • WMS Functional Knowledge: Understanding of warehouse management system(s) and the ability to develop an understanding of the functional capabilities of the Hardis WMS and how the system can optimise warehouse operations.
  • Warehouse operational and system functions: Familiarity with operational best practices associated with warehouse operations in the industries Great Bear serve.
  • Project Planning: Ability to create project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and task dependencies to support Sites through the changes driven by the implementation of Hardis WMS
  • Risk Management: Identifies potential risks and develops strategies to mitigate them to ensure a smooth implementation process.
  • Stakeholder Management: Ability to communicate effectively with different stakeholders, including warehouse staff, IT teams, and upper management
  • Training and Documentation: Support the development of training materials and deliver standard operating process documentation to ensure that end-users are proficient in using the new WMS.
  • Process Analysis: Analyse current warehouse processes and identify areas for improvement or optimisation through the implementation of the WMS.
  • Problem-Solving: Quickly address and resolve issues that arise during the implementation process.
  • Decision-Making: Make informed decisions on issues related to the implementation, considering both short-term and long-term impacts.
  • Change Implementation: Implement strategies to manage and facilitate the transition from the old system to the new WMS.
  • Support User Adoption: defining strategies to ensure that the end-users embrace and effectively use the new system.
  • Post-Implementation Evaluation: Conduct evaluations after the implementation to identify areas to improve the implementation process
