Your new company has been established for over 30 years, specialising in Groundworks, Civil Engineering, Demolition, Asbestos Removal and Remediation projects. Due to a stable flow of work, they are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join the team.
Your new role
As part of the commercial team, you will be in charge of ensuring the financial success of projects typically in the range of £1m - £12m. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Manage cost planning and commercial aspects throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare Activity Schedules, Bills of Quantities, and Resource profiling.
- Submit Applications for Payment to clients.
- Provide commercial support to the business.
- Accurately tender jobs from construction drawings.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Conduct risk assessments related to cost and procurement.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and resolve any disputes.
- Evaluate variations and change orders.
- Prepare final accounts and negotiate settlements.
What you'll need to succeed
- Over 3 years' experience working as a civil and groundworks Quantity Surveyor.
- Familiarity with civil engineering projects.
- Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or related field preferred.
- Proficient in quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, Buildsoft, or similar).
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS or CIOB) is advantageous.
