Major Developments Service Manager

Reed are supporting a Greater Manchester Local Authority in their recruitment to a Major Developments Service Manager position. In this role, you will lead the delivery of major development, regeneration, and commercial projects and major regeneration programmes. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Economic Development and Regeneration, this role is pivotal in driving sustainable and inclusive growth for the Authority and its communities.
Day to Day of the Role:
- Manage the Major Developments Service, including internal staff and temporary specialist roles, by setting, monitoring, and reviewing work programmes, priorities, and performance.
- Contribute to the leadership and management of the Council as part of the Divisional Management Team.
- Lead a complex programme of capital projects from inception to delivery, ensuring robust programme management and assurance.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to bring forward major developments and facilitate strategic investment opportunities.
- Identify potential external funding sources and lead on securing investment for strategic development projects.
- Ensure effective governance of the Council's regeneration capital programme, effectively managing consultancy and construction budgets.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Extensive experience with a strong practical knowledge of regeneration development and transactions.
- Knowledge of the current Local Government landscape and the challenges facing Local Authorities.
- Capable of developing, negotiating, and achieving challenging outcomes and goals, making complex decisions based on facts.
- High level of financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets and control costs.
