We are seeking a Finance Manager to oversee the financial operations of a dynamic luxury home builder. This role involves managing financial health, preparing management accounts, processing VAT returns, ensuring compliance with the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS), and overseeing invoice accuracy for various projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance, with proficiency in Xero software being essential.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Prepare and present monthly management accounts for each project, offering financial insights and improvement recommendations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely VAT returns in line with HMRC regulations.
  • Process CIS deductions and returns, maintaining compliance with legislation.
  • Manage invoice processing, ensuring correct assignment to projects.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable to monitor cash flow and ensure prompt transactions.
  • Conduct detailed cash flow forecasting to manage liquidity and project funding.
  • Maintain overhead forecasts to support accurate cost allocation and financial planning.
  • Liaise with lending banks, providing necessary financial information and ensuring loan agreement compliance.
  • Perform general bookkeeping, maintain accurate financial records, reconcile accounts, and manage ledgers.
  • Produce regular financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Utilize Xero for financial management and reporting, ensuring data accuracy.
  • Assist in annual budgeting and financial forecasting, monitoring against budgeted figures.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations for precise cash flow management.
  • Maintain tax compliance for the business.
  • Recommend process improvements for financial systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA).
  • In-depth knowledge of VAT regulations and tax compliance.
  • Extensive experience with Xero accounting software.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to financial data accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in construction finance and familiarity with CIS highly desirable.
