About the Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in providing tailored support to students with special educational needs (SEN). Working closely with the teaching staff, you will help create a positive and engaging learning environment that enables every student to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Personalized Student Support: Work one-on-one or with small groups of students, adapting activities to suit their individual needs and learning styles.
  • Classroom Assistance: Assist the teacher in delivering lessons, managing classroom behaviour, and ensuring a supportive learning atmosphere.
  • Implementing Learning Strategies: Support the implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and specific learning strategies, collaborating with teachers and the SEN coordinator.
  • Encourage Independence: Help students build their confidence, independence, and social skills by providing consistent, positive reinforcement and guidance.
  • Monitor Progress: Observe and record student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and contributing to student assessments and reports.
  • Inclusive Environment: Foster a caring and inclusive classroom where all students feel valued and supported.

Requirements:

  • A passion for supporting children with diverse needs and helping them achieve their best.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • Previous experience working with children, especially those with SEN, is highly desirable.
  • A proactive, flexible approach with a willingness to adapt to the dynamic needs of the classroom.
