Merrifield Consultants are delighted to be partnering with a Faith Charity to recruit an Internal Communications Officer.

We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Internal Communications Officer to join the charity's Communications Team and enhance their internal communications strategy. The Internal Communications Officer will play a crucial role in enhancing the organisation's internal communications strategy. This role involves managing internal content, facilitating staff feedback, and ensuring clear and inclusive communication across various channels.

Job Title: Internal Communications Officer

Salary: £38,000 per annum

Contract: Full-time, permanent

Location: London (Hybrid), 3 days a week in the office

Reports to: Director of Communications

Team: Communications Team

Responsibilities:

  • Developing an Internal Communications Strategy: Craft and execute a strategy that supports the organisation's mission and values, encourages staff engagement, and ensures consistent messaging.
  • Content Creation and Management: Produce engaging content for various channels to keep staff informed and motivated.
  • Feedback Mechanisms: Establish and manage channels for staff feedback to leadership, promoting a two-way communication culture.
  • Crisis Communication: Work with the Director of Communications in preparing and managing internal communication during crises, ensuring clear messaging and updates for staff.
  • Event Management: Organise and deliver internal events, such as staff meetings and workshops, to enhance employee engagement.
  • Training and Support: Provide support and training for staff on communication tools and practices, enhancing overall communication skills within the Team.
  • Change Management: Advise the Senior Management Group on the internal communications aspect of Change Management, including ongoing work to enhance the organisation's Investors in People Silver accreditation.
  • Brand Advocacy: Encourage staff to be ambassadors through maintaining the brand voice for internal communications.
  • Project Management: Lead internal communications projects, such as creating a team calendar and reviewing newsletters for consistent branding and tone.
  • Diversity and Inclusion: Ensure communication strategies and content reflect the Team's commitment to inclusivity, growth, and justice.
  • Ensuring Consistency: Plan and approve regular communications to be sent out to employees.

Person Specification:

  • At least three years of experience in internal communications.
  • Ability to develop and implement comprehensive internal communications strategies.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Strong organisational skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms.
  • Ability to tailor communications to be inclusive and resonate with a diverse workforce.
  • Demonstrates an understanding and supportive of the work and mission of a Faith Charity.
  • Positive, approachable, and proactive way of working.
  • Awareness and sensitivity to issues of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
