Disability Activity Manager

  • Annual Salary: £33,280 - £37,440

  • Job Type: Full-time, 35 hours per week

We are seeking a dedicated Disability Activity Manager to oversee the operational management of Short Breaks schemes for children and young people with disabilities and additional needs across Surrey and West Sussex. This role is based at the Centre and requires managing provision in multiple locations.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide operational management of all Short Break club contracts across East Surrey and West Sussex.
  • Lead the assessment and approval of behavioural support plans and complex need support to ensure safe and inclusive practices within our Short Break Schemes.
  • Monitor annual Short Breaks area delivery plans to ensure contracted service delivery requirements are met.
  • Manage and monitor the short breaks budget, including donations and grants.
  • Assist with staff recruitment and secure opportunities to attract staff from local communities.
  • Onboard new disability sessional staff, including induction, role-specific training, and ongoing development to increase workforce retention.
  • Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to expand the use of volunteers across Disability Services.
  • Provide line management for a team of Disability Short Breaks Coordinators.
  • Lead Short Break sessions and provide cover for Coordinators where needed.
  • Ensure the meaningful participation of children and young people in the planning, design, delivery, and evaluation of short break services.
  • Work with the Marketing Manager to ensure that short break services are marketed effectively.
  • Liaise with local partners, stakeholders, and the statutory sector to enhance service coherence, range, reach, and quality.
  • Attend and participate in relevant meetings and forums related to the services.
  • Represent the YMCA at external events and deliver presentations.
  • Act as Designated Officer for Sovereign Centre where required.
  • Support and promote all services running from the centre as required.
  • Prepare reports and statistical data as requested by the Disability Services Manager.
  • Attend staff meetings, training, and development events to ensure continuous professional competence and development.
  • Operate in accordance with policies and procedures for health and safety, equality, diversity and inclusion, risk assessment, and safeguarding to provide a safe and healthy working environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in operational management, preferably within disability services.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in team management.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
  • Experience in budget management and staff recruitment.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices and policies.
  • Commitment to inclusive practices and continuous professional development.
