Location: Leyland, Lancashire

Start Date: Beginning of the New Academic Year

Contract Type: Full-time

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45 AM - 3:00 PM

Role Overview: As the Family Support and Attendance Worker, you will play a crucial role in supporting the families of our pupils and promoting regular school attendance. You will work closely with parents and guardians to address any barriers to attendance and provide the necessary support to help them engage positively with the school. Your excellent communication skills and nurturing personality will be key to building strong, trusting relationships with our families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with pupils' families, acting as a key point of contact for support and guidance.
  • Work collaboratively with school staff to identify and address issues affecting pupil attendance.
  • Implement strategies to improve attendance and punctuality, including home visits and meetings with families.
  • Provide emotional and practical support to families, helping them to overcome any challenges that may impact their child's education.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and family interactions, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with school policies.
  • Assist in organising and delivering workshops and events for families to promote engagement and support.
  • Liaise with external agencies and services to provide comprehensive support for families in need.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a nurturing and empathetic approach.
  • Experience working with families and children, preferably in an educational or social care setting.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Knowledge of issues affecting school attendance and strategies to address them.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and positive attitude.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, social work, or a related field are desirable but not essential.
