The Opportunity:

The

Safety Officer

will develop and enhance the

Health & Safety

culture of our business. Working alongside and supporting the

Health, Safety & Environmental

Manager, the

Safety Officer

is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks, as well as ensuring compliance with relevant safety regulations and standards. You will fully utilise your practical experience within a varied

H&S

role, together with your

IOSH

or NEBOSH qualification, AND your computer skills in this team orientated role.

The Role:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, and programmes to ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of the workplace to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with department managers and supervisors to address safety concerns and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Manage the procurement, issue and record keeping for all types of PPE.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and develop preventive measures to reduce recurrence. Develop and maintain safety records and documentation, including incident reports and inspection findings using the full MS Office suite AND Jira (training will be provided).
  • Conduct, record and manage risk assessments identifying suitable and sufficient controls. 10. Support the wider business with practical safety advice for ad-hoc plans, special projects or events.

Skills:

  • An IOSH, NCRQ, NEBOSH or similar qualification in safety management.
  • At least 2 years' experience in a similar Safety or H&S role.
  • Have administrative skills including, Outlook, Word, Excel and MS Teams and the ability to learn computerised systems.
  • Proven ability to eliminate/mitigate risks in the workplace.

Working Hours:

Generally, 9-5.30 Monday to Friday with a degree of flexibility required in working hours (emergencies, contractor management out of hours etc). This is a full time role working 40 hours per week.
