The provision is dedicated to supporting children with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour for students between 11 and 16 years of age. Role Overview: As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with individual students within Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Your role will involve providing tailored support to meet their specific needs across a variety of subject areas. You will collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create a positive and inclusive learning experience for all.
Responsibilities:
- Individual Support: Provide personalised support to students with SEMH needs, ensuring their well-being and engagement in learning.
- Behaviour Management: Implement effective behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour and minimise disruptions.
- Academic Assistance: Assist students in accessing the curriculum, adapting materials as needed.
- Emotional Support: Build strong relationships with students, offering emotional support and encouragement.
- Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other staff to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions.
Requirements:
- Experience: Previous experience working with children with SEMH needs is essential.
- Qualifications: A relevant teaching assistant qualification or equivalent.
- Behaviour Management Skills: Ability to deescalate challenging situations and implement effective strategies.
- Empathy: A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students.
- Flexibility: Adaptability to meet the diverse needs of individual students.
- Team Player: Willingness to collaborate and contribute to a positive school community.
