Adaptable Recruitment have a fantastic opportunity for a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join a multi-award winning (M&E) consultancy based in Chester/Liverpool/North Wales. Our client is a well-established business with three office sites in the Northwest.

Due to business growth and new project wins, they are currently seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer with experience/desire to lead on new projects as well as continue to learn and grow within the Building Services Industry and within the Business.

Job Duties:

  • Lead on mechanical design strategies
  • Act as Project lead and main point of contact for Clients on projects
  • Liaise with the technical and quality team during the design process and arrange regular design feedback sessions.
  • Prepare technical specifications and Mechanical design drawings using industry-standard software.
  • Preparing tender documentation and reports
  • Surveying and reporting on Mechanical systems in buildings
  • Undertaking design calculations
  • Design mechanical installations to meet British Standards
  • Developing design proposals at sketch, detailed design, and production stages
  • Demonstrate a passion for mechanical design engineering and a willingness to learn.
  • Attend site to assess the quality of M&E systems during the installation period using in house defects software package.
  • Support and mentor junior engineers and aid their development.
  • Manage and develop client and design team relationships to provide continuous future Business Development opportunities.

Ideal experience?

  • Minimum 5 years' experience within a building services design role
  • HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent in Building Services or related subject
  • Experience in design software e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Hevacomp, IES
  • Experience contributing to design team meetings.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • To be willing to travel back and forth to sites as necessary to facilitate.
