My client is looking to recruit a Head Of Technology to join their team.
The role
You will play an essential part in a newly created technology function as the first full time development hire and bringing their existing tech delivery in-house.
As the Head of Technology, you will have the opportunity to drive meaningful business outcomes with the support of a lean, high-performing team. Your expertise will drive the success of the technology initiatives and enable themto deliver their ambitious vision.
What you'll do:
- Technical Leadership: Drive the quality of their software products and ensure they are building for scalability and maintainability moving forward.
- Architecture and Design: They are vertically integrated with a wide variety of requirements from different areas of the business. It will be your role to drive build vs. buy decisions and pragmatic architectural design decisions
- Product Discovery and Delivery: You will play an active role in both discovery and delivery, driving decisions on prioritisation, scope and implementation approach. This will involve having an open dialogue with internal users, understanding customer behaviour and the impact that changes (big and small) may have on revenue and day-to-day operations
- Data Engineering: Ensuring they have the right data in the right place at the right time is essential in a vertically integrated business operating across a number of systems. You will be responsible for defining where data is mastered and how it flows across different systems
Their Technology:
- Shopify - for all their customer facing software products and online retail.
- Python (on AWS Fargate & Lambdas) - for their custom software, integrations and background processing.
- PHP (on Fargate) - their legacy order management system (Sylius)
- Vue.js Point of Sale interface
- Amazon Redshift data warehouse, MySQL
About you:
- Experience being responsible for production systems in a post-Seed stage technology startup.
- Experience hiring / managing 1 or more developers/team members.
- Knowledgeable in security / personal data protection principles and GDPR
- Experience leading agile development teams, including sprint planning, retrospectives, and continuous improvement.
- Experience in Product Discovery including problem definition and ideation.
- Strong technical background with proficiency in including but not limited to Javascript, Python, PHP, SQL.
- Experience of any of the following: e-commerce/manufacturing/medical industry trends and challenges would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with DevOps practices including CI/CD through tools like Github Actions, AWS CDK, CircleCI etc.
- Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure including AWS, containerisation, monitoring and observability.
- Experience working with 3rd party services and APIs and integration strategies
- Ability to communicate well, giving proactive feedback to peers and team matched with essential organisation skills
