Learning Resources Manager / Librarian

Main Areas of Responsibility

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Liaising with and ordering from book representatives, wholesalers, internet and any other cost-effective source
  • Liaising with teaching staff over acquisition and management of stock to support the curriculum
  • Evaluating books for age, content and condition and supporting the school's Literacy schemes
  • Managing class sets and providing materials for DEAR Time reading sessions
  • With appropriate manager, writing, evaluating and monitoring the LRC action plan
  • Implementing annual action plan review, identifying needs and resources
  • Reviewing and updating LRC policy annually
  • Creating an inclusive environment and opening the library to students at break time, lunch time and after school
  • Working closely with SENCO to accommodate SEN students in the library both during breaks and lesson times as required
  • Leading and managing student induction days
  • Planning and teaching library lessons as required
  • Researching and providing resources for Curriculum use/lessons based in library
  • Researching and producing displays and competitions
  • Organise author visits and other library events
  • Overseeing the use of LRC ICT equipment
  • Overseeing the Library Homework Club
  • Leading and managing the after-school Book Club
  • Training and managing student librarians
  • Stock take of catalogue annually
  • Conducting yearly surveys/feedback on what students think of the library
  • Producing termly newsletters and updates to staff and students

Qualifications & Experience

We would like to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience of working in a school library
  • In-depth knowledge of children's and YA literature
  • Evidence of relevant qualifications & further training
  • Experience of working under pressure and meeting deadlines
  • Experience of working on one's own initiative and to work within a team
  • Experience of working flexibly in response to changing situations
  • Sound knowledge of Management Information Systems
