My client is an established SME who have been in operation for over 20 years, now looking to grow their finance team by an additional head count, supporting primarily within Sales Ledger, however will also assist within other transactional functions.

This is a great role for someone who wants their own steady area of core responsibilities but wants to gain a bit more exposure to the wider finance function, or simply enjoys a mixture of tasks to keep the day interesting. They would consider supporting the right candidate through professional qualifications.

Accounts Assistant - Core Responsibilities:

  • Taking responsibility for the day-to-day sales ledger, including processing accurate sales invoices and proformas
  • Updating invoice trackers and liaising with the production managers to ensure all invoicing is captured in a timely manner
  • Reconciling customer accounts
  • Maintaining the fixed asset register
  • Processing purchase invoices for overheads
  • Supporting with journals and balance sheet reconciliations (e.g. accruals/prepayments)
  • CIS statements
  • General finance administration, e.g. ensuring filing is kept up-to-date
  • Supporting the Finance Manager as needed
  • Assisting our credit controller with credit control, e.g. sending statements of account, if needed

The ideal candidate should have experience of sales ledger, but training and support will be provided on all aspects of the role. This is also an office based role.

Key Skills/Experience:

  • Sage 50 experience (desirable)
  • Ideally AAT Level 2 or higher
  • At least 1 year of experience with sales ledger, e.g. raising invoices
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Good communication skills (e.g. phone and email)
  • Basic Excel skills
  • Good organisation skills
  • Motivated and able to work proactively

Salary & Benefits:

  • Salary £25,000 - £30,000
  • Free parking on site
  • Standard 28 days holiday (including bank holidays), with an additional 2 days after 2 years' service. There is a further 2 days added after 4 years' service.
