UPDATED: For an established CEO of several companies we are looking for a Travelling Chief of Staff/ Director of Marketing based preferably in Portugal with London as a possibility (other EU countries also considered). Excellent knowledge of marketing strategies and running major campaigns. Drivers only.

The CEO lives between London and Faro, Portugal and heads an organization consisting of several businesses in the media and marketing industry, as well as major projects (the automotive/ health & wellness spaces), he is also an angel investor and has invested into multiple businesses. The support required is 60% business and 40% private/ personal. This is an exciting role that not only seeks exceptional support in a fast-paced environment for his private office but also offers engagement, responsibility and growth within the organization, while sharing and driving towards the same vision, which is absolute key for this role.
Travel is about 40% of the time with the rest being based remotely or even the possibility to relocate completely to either Portugal or London for the right candidate.Travel is predominantly around Central Europe and Eastern Europe and can include trips to the Middle East and Africa. When travelling the Travelling the Chief of Staff/ Director of Marketing is accompanied by the CEO's travel team including security and a stylist. The role supports the CEO and liaises with other PAs and the Operational Manager of the organization (who has worked for the organisation for several years, having been in this role previously).
The duties of the Travelling Chief of Staff/ Director of Marketing:
- Act as main point of contact for across several companies and act as a gatekeeper
- Communicate between the CEO, his travel team and organization
- Oversee marketing plans and strategies
- Manage industry specific projects
- Conduct extensive research and create presentations and reports
- Introduce business structured processes and standards if needed
- Create budgets and financial forecasts
- Prepare for and attend meetings (representing the CEO if needed)
- Extensive diary management (icloud) and support the CEO in daily life (reminders etc.)
- Inbox management and act quickly if required
- Organize and book all travel (private and commercial) and accommodation (usually well in advance)
- Travel with the CEO and his travel team
- Manage and update social media accounts
- Organize and attend large events (which include celebrity guests)
- Ensure accommodation is to required standards (fresh flowers, snacks etc.)
- Deal with personal requests (personal shopping, gifts, etc.)
The requirements of the Travelling Chief of Staff/ Director of Marketing:
- A min. of 5 years 'experience as Chief of Staff or in a senior management business role
- Extensive marketing experience (e.g. agency based, running campaigns etc.)
- Degree educated (business/ marketing)
- Experience in the automotive sector is highly beneficial
- Must be legal to work in the UK/ EU (visas will be obtained if required)
- Clean driver's license
- Fluency in English essential/ other European languages a benefit (Spanish/ Dutch/ German) and/ or Mandarin
- Strong IT skills in MS & Apple, Excel and Word
- Strong financial skills and the ability to introduce structures and processes
- Experienced in Photoshop/ Illustrator/ Canva and in managing social media ideally
- Experienced in dealing with press media is an advantage (incl. TV appearances)
- Any business acumen is welcome including experience in writing business plans/ proposals/ presentations
- Able to work under pressure with a mature outlook
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Be well presented for high profile events (clothing allowance provided if required)
- Ability to work independently, pro-actively, due diligently and to a high standard
- Excellent written references from past employers
- Recent security check (to be applied if not avaiable)
This is a varied and demanding role that is perfect for candidates who thrive in a busy environment because they are able to stay calm and collected not losing sight. A strong sense of business focus and acute eye for detail, as well as flexibility are essential as the environment is quite fluid. Other attributes are to be switched on, able to make good judgements on their own accord, contribute to business discussions and be able to put forward, manage and implement ideas that fulfil the organization's goals.
The CEO and his organization have an excellent record as employers. He treats staff as he likes to be treated, therefore someone who is kind and caring is essential.
There is the potential to split this role to get additional support if needed. The role could be solely (and ideally) based in Portugal including Portuguese payroll and an apartment provided, or it could be London based (with UK payroll) without accommodation provided.
Hours: Mon -Fri 9am- 6pm remotely, 24/ 7 when travelling due to different time zones. For extra days worked, time in lieu is given (some bank holidays may need to be worked).
Salary: £100.000-120.000 gross a year if based in UK, or the equivalent in Euros through Portuguese payroll if based in Faro. The salary is depending on experience. 28 days holidays including bank holidays. Accommodation while travelling provided (staying in same hotel as the CEO). Allowances provided for subsistence and outfits. Apple laptop and phones provided.
