Part of a wider system approach, the Change4Life service focuses on national and local public health priorities including oral health, healthy eating, emotional wellbeing, and physical activity. The service aims to maximise the promotion of health messages, ensuring children, young people, and families have many opportunities to put them into practice.

We are now looking for a Family Coach to join us on a full-time, fixed-term basis, working 37 hours per week until 30th June 2025, with the possibility of an extension.

The Role

As a Family Coach, you will support the delivery of Change4Life services to children, young people and families across the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster City Council.

Specifically, you'll deliver collaborative, holistic and outcomes focused plans of support to improve wellbeing, reduce childhood obesity, promote physical activity and improve oral health, assessing individual needs to develop personalised goals.

Working with local authorities, you'll promote national and local public health priorities and a whole systems approach to reducing health inequalities, providing direct support and guidance to families on a one-to-one basis in their homes or other community settings.

Additionally, you will:

- Ensure compliance with procedures for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults
- Work closely with and support volunteers
- Maintain accurate, up to date records

About You

To be considered as a Family Coach, you will need:

- Experience of working with disadvantaged and diverse children, young people and their families
- Experience of devising and delivering short term, individually tailored and outcomes focused support plans that improve health and wellbeing
- Experience of using a range of techniques (Motivational Interviewing/Personal Centred/ Community Centred/solution Focused/CBT) in promoting behaviour change
- Experience of successfully engaging diverse communities of families in health and wellbeing
- An understanding of contemporary health topics and public health agenda, relating to pregnancy, children and young people, families and health including emotional health and wellbeing
- Up to date knowledge and experience of safeguarding issues and procedures, including knowledge and understanding of integrated working practices and the range of services and agencies to involve
- Strong record keeping skills
- Excellent inter and intrapersonal skills
- To be educated to NVQ Level 3 or above in social work, health, education or equivalent experience of working in Health Promotion Service
