One of the well-known trusts in the West Midlands is looking for an experienced, dynamic Community Midwife to provide women-centered care within several settings. The role involves working collaboratively within the multi-disciplinary team and management to provide a high standard of safe, women-centered care.

Description:

Experience in community-based midwifery care is required to provide all aspects of antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care to pregnant people and their families in the Sandwell and West Birmingham area.

  • Serve as the named midwife for an identified caseload of women attached to a GP surgery and provide all routine care as per NICE guidelines antenatally and postnatally.
  • Provide some intrapartum care within a traditional on-call system.
  • Be part of a supportive team providing care to a diverse community with links to other family services such as family support workers, Specialist Midwives, health visitors, and children's centres.
  • Work autonomously when required while being a team player with excellent organizational skills.

Training can be provided for upskilling (if required), and if you have a particular interest in developing an area of your practice, we will endeavor to accommodate this.

Skills & Experience:

  • Valid NMC registration as a Midwife and community experience
  • Minimum introduction to IV cannulations, suturing, scrubbing in theatre, epidural top-ups, resuscitation of newborns
  • Ability to evaluate midwifery care
  • Knowledge of NMC Midwives Rules, Code of Practice, The Scope of Professional Practice, Standards for the Administration of Medicines
  • Ability to adapt to new working practices
  • Relevant post-registration experience in continuous clinical practice
  • Successfully completed a preceptorship programme
  • Evidence of working in all areas of midwifery
  • Well-documented and up-to-date CPD portfolio
  • Ability to work autonomously within professional and Trusts guidelines
  • Experience/evidence of coordinating a maternity ward/clinical/community area
  • Counseling skills
  • Ability to take the professional lead in caring for low-risk women
