ASD Tutor | Solihull | £26.62 per hour | Part-time Hours
SMART Education are looking for a committed and experienced ASD Tutor with a real passion to support vulnerable, at risk and disengaged learners with their core-subjects! We currently have a number of vacancies for a Tutor to support two students with ASD. Both student are in KS2, one is currently in Year 5 working at Year 2 level and the second is in Year 4 working on target. The successful tutor will need to be familiar in working with SEN needs and managing challenging behaviour.
You will be working 1:1 with these young students therefore it is vital that you are confident in your ability to differentiate and deliver 1:1 tuition lessons to meet the young person's needs. You will be provided with 1-2 hours of planning and preparation time per week.
You will be required to:
- Create a calm and positive learning environment
- Build a strong rapport with both the young person and their families
- Planning lesson plans and activities for the tuition sessions to ensure that the curriculum is covered sufficiently
- Support a young person with complex needs; differentiating lesson/activities
- Complete a tuition report after sessions that outlines progress of the student
Person Specification:
- A creative and versatile teaching style Professional Teaching Qualifications (QTS / QTLS / PGCE), Subject Specialism or extensive tuition experience supporting with English, Maths and/or Science
- Experience, Knowledge and Understanding of working with children/young people with additional learning needs (SEN/SEMH/ASD)
- Experience, Knowledge and Understanding of working with disengaged young people or looked after children
- An enhanced DBS on the update service or the willingness to acquire one
- Experience, Knowledge and Understanding of Safeguarding practices
