An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Management Accountant to join a leading construction company based in Rainham. This role is ideal for a part-qualified accountant who is keen to develop their skills in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will support various financial activities, including financial reporting, analysis, construction project support, and compliance.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including profit and loss accounts, balance sheets, and variance analysis. Support budgeting and forecasting activities, and track project costs and overheads.
- Prepare and monitor job costing reports, assist with subcontractor payments, and manage Work in Progress (WIP) reporting. Ensure accurate financial documentation and controls for construction contracts.
- Manage the timely processing of invoices, prepare payment runs, and handle client invoicing and follow-ups. Regularly reconcile accounts payable and receivable ledgers.
- Monitor daily payments and receipts, ensuring discrepancies are resolved promptly.
- Support external audits, maintain robust internal controls, and assist in implementing improvements to existing controls.
- Prepare and submit VAT and CIS returns, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations.
- Assist the payroll team with companywide hours, overtime, and deductions calculations..
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Part-Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or AAT) OR studying towards it.
- Experience in the construction industry, familiar with CIS, WIP, and project accounting is desirable.
- Proficient with Sage 200 and Microsoft Excel.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication skills, capable of effectively conveying financial information.
