Role: Junior Grid Engineer

Location: London

Salary: £ 45,000k - £ 55,000k based on experience

(Flexible Hybrid Working)

Comanos is working with a client who develops large scale solar, BESS and wind power plants across the UK. They are well capitalised with a rich project pipeline, and they are looking for an exceptional Junior Grid Engineer to support their head of grid development and liase with management and the land acquisition team to secure grid capacity for large-scale solar, wind, and BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) projects.

Day to day responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Grid development team on both distribution level and national transmission level as well as assisting with applications.
  • Managing the project pipeline through communications with DNOs and NGESO throughout the project lifecycle and tracking developments.
  • Sourcing and securing information for grid capacity suitable for PV, Wind and BESS projects up to 400kV.
  • Communications with DNOs and NGESO on budgets, pre-app meeting and upcoming developments.
  • Completion of ENA's G99 application forms.
  • Analysing technical drawings using Auto CAD and generating SLDs.
  • Supporting due diligence for potential project acquisitions.
  • Supporting ICP ad EPC procurement processes.

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Electrical Engineering degree (a masters in Powers systems a plus)
  • 2-3 years experience in a technical grid connection role related to electricity projects.
  • Experience working on renewable energy projects (ideally solar, wind and BESS)
  • Knowledge of Grid Code/ENA G99.
  • Great communications skills and ability to liase with stakeholders, network operators and grid specialist consultants.
