Your new role
I am currently looking for an experienced Transport Planner to join a dynamic and forward-thinking company, who are committed to delivering exceptional service in the transport industry. As Transport Planner, you will come from a similar background; planning driver's routes to ensure all orders are delivered in full and on time.
Working very closely with internal departments, heavily involved in dealing with the customer and drivers on a daily basis.
Efficient use of vehicles and drivers, a cost-saving mentality and continuous improvement of customer service are all key parts of the role. In addition, excellent communication skills are essential when dealing with all departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost-effective planning of all vehicle routes by fully utilising a range of modalities to the required level of customer service.
- Maintaining an excellent working knowledge of all relevant legislation and working in accordance with it.
- Managing driver hours, including start/finish times and route optimisation.
- Ensuring adequate resources are available, including drivers and transportation methods.
- Communicating effectively with third-party sub-contractors.
- Demonstrating good knowledge of planning systems and processes.
- Processing departmental documentation and drivers' paperwork.
- Responding to telephone calls, emails, etc., in a timely manner, providing a friendly and supportive service.
What you'll need to succeed
- Strong organisational skills and an eagerness to understand our business.
- Experience in a similar role within a global company, focusing on planning logistics networks and fleet management.
- Clear and effective communication skills.
- Experience working within a time-critical service environment.
- Logical thinking with the ability to multitask and prioritise.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Proficiency in Word and Excel, and competence with IT platforms and software packages.
- Experience with third-party logistics and service partners.
- A continual improvement mindset.
- Essential logistical background experience.
