About the Team

  • The team may be small, but it boasts a diverse client base and is renowned for delivering pragmatic and commercially focused advice across the spectrum of employment law matters.
  • Collaborating closely with other departments within the firm, the team maintains a collegial and client-centric culture.

As an Employment Partner, your duties typically revolve around leading and managing the employment team within a law firm or legal department.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal advice and guidance to clients on a wide range of employment law matters, including contracts, policies, discrimination, harassment, terminations, and employee relations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and objectives, and delivering tailored legal solutions that align with their business goals.
  • Lead and manage a team of lawyers and support staff within the department, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to ensure high-quality work and professional development.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives to grow the firm's employment practice, identify market trends, and capitalize on emerging opportunities.
  • Assess and mitigate legal risks for clients, providing proactive advice to prevent potential disputes and litigation.
  • Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, and litigation proceedings related to employment disputes, ensuring their interests are protected and advocating on their behalf.

About You

  • The ideal candidate will possess the ability to manage their own client portfolio while supporting our predominantly employer-focused Employment team.
  • Additionally, they will offer counsel to executive-level individual clients and provide assistance to the firm's corporate, commercial, and real estate teams.
  • While some assistance with the current caseload is expected, the successful candidate will also demonstrate proficiency in marketing and business development, with a portable following of employer clients.
  • A strong interest in Employment Tribunal work and experience in representing Respondents, from early conciliation to trial, is essential.

Candidates should feel comfortable offering strategic and commercially astute advice to clients, supported by a solid network of Counsel contacts.
