Automatic Opening Vent / AOV Engineer / Smoke Ventilation Engineer who has industry experience, inspecting, testing, installing, repairing and carrying out general maintenance of smoke ventilation and fire damper systems at commercial sites is required for a well-established company.
SALARY: £32,000 - £40,000 per annum + Overtime at Time and a Half & Double Time + Company Van & Mobile Phone + 23 Days Paid Holiday plus Bank Holidays + Pension
LOCATION: Candidates can live within the Midlands or North West Region
You will be onsite for standard business hours which will require early starts to get to some sites, occasional overnight stays and night work may be required

As an experienced Automatic Opening Vent / AOV Engineer / Smoke Ventilation Engineer you will collaborate with the Service Team to ensure that systems are maintained according to the planner. You will oversee the installation of smoke vents, coordinating with contractors to ensure accurate implementation of design specifications.
DUTIES
Your duties as the Automatic Opening Vent / AOV Engineer / Smoke Ventilation Engineer include:
Inspection and Testing:
- Conduct comprehensive inspections of existing smoke vent systems
- Perform functional tests to ensure proper operation of smoke vents during both regular and emergency conditions
- Document and report findings, recommending necessary adjustments, repairs, or replacements
Maintenance and Repairs:
- Develop and implement routine maintenance programs for smoke vent systems to prevent malfunctions
- Respond promptly to service requests for smoke vent repairs or replacements
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to integrate smoke vent inspections into preventive maintenance schedules
Code Compliance:
- Stay current with national fire safety codes and regulations related to smoke ventilation
- Ensure that smoke vent systems are in compliance with all relevant standards
- Provide guidance to clients and colleagues on compliance issues related to smoke vent engineering
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Proven experience as a Ventilation Engineer or a similar role
- knowledge of fire safety codes and regulations, especially those pertaining to smoke ventilation highly desirable
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Certifications in smoke vent systems design and maintenance are highly desirable
- Fault finding experience
- Knowledge of electrical circuits within control panels
- Working at height experience
- Full driving license (max 3 points)
