New Business Underwriting Manager

Success Recruit are currently working with a locally based Insurance MGA, who are seeking to recruit a New Business Underwriting Manager. The ideal candidate will have proven line management and underwriting experience, offering support and working within a busy Essex based office (with some hybrid flexibility).

The successful New Business Underwriting Manager, with market facing and trading experience, will be working closely with an established but growing team within the Construction Division. They will ideally be CII qualified, but this is not essential.

The successful New Business Underwriting Manager will be expected to:

  • Manage the construction new business department
  • Develop and maintain a profitable book of business
  • Demonstrate confidence as a market facing and trading underwriter

Job Description:

The purpose of this position is to manage and support the construction new business department within a variety of delegated binding authorities, aligned within the MGA. Focused on building good relationships with brokers across the UK with expertly tailored insurance solutions, to include Contractors Combined Liability, Contractors All Risks, Excess of Loss, Professional Indemnity, JCT and Non-Negligent Liability.

Duties to include but not limited to:

  • Support and manage the Construction New Business team
  • Conduct full line management responsibilities as associated with managing a team
  • Underwriting of new business risks under a variety of delegated binding authorities
  • Develop and maintain a profitable book of business
  • Having and developing a market facing focus, trading and maintaining relationships with brokers, insurers and business partners
  • Working within the parameters of delegated authorities and personal authority limits
  • Ensure all agreed company service levels and standards are met both personally and as a team
  • Meet individual targets whilst contributing towards team targets
  • Creating and maintaining a supportive environment
  • Contribute towards and be aligned to agreed management strategies
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office platforms

Hours: Monday to Friday - 9am - 5.30pm -Office based with hybrid flexibility

Salary: Circa £75k to £85K dependant on experience
