Reed Accountancy are currently assisting an established client in the Crawley area in the recruitment of an Accounts Assistant to join their finance team. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller this role is crucial for ensuring the flow of accurate and timely financial and regulatory information in accordance with business needs and regulatory standards. The Accounts Assistant will support all relevant functions of the Accounts team to operate effectively and offers significant opportunities to learn various skills within the full Accounts function.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Prepare and inputting journals.
- Maintain the monthly cashbook.
- Monitor, analyse, and post company credit card and employee expenses.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closures, including the annual audit and preparation of statutory returns such as VAT.
- Maintain Fixed Assets schedule including monthly journals and reconciliations.
- Account reconciliations
- Post purchase invoices, cash, and match orders to the Purchase Ledger.
- Calculate and reconcile monthly prepayments.
- Prepare weekly sales snapshots and produce monthly/periodic external sales reports.
- Analyse data from new sales channels and calculate detailed costings by business stream.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations.
- Provide support to Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll functions as required.
- Undertake other tasks as directed by the Financial Controller.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Solid all round accounts experience
- Strong MS Office skills, primarily Excel.
- Knowledge of Sage finance systems is preferable.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
