About the school:
We are working closely with a delightful three-form entry junior school in B45 Rubery - They are seeking tenacious and hard working SEN TA's to support an inclusive environment for children with Social and Emotional Mental Health; Autism spectrum disorder and global delay. The school promote good mental welfare for its pupils and staff alike.
The school is rated 'good; by OfSted, it is a welcoming nurturing school where pupils are happy and safe. Leaders are aspirational and want the best for every pupil. Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join our team. The successful candidate will work with pupils in Years 3 to 6 who have Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). You will play a key role in supporting the educational and social development of these pupils, ensuring they have access to a high-quality learning experience.
SEN needs include:
- SEMH - lower framework
- ASD - high functioning
- Non-verbal
- ADHD
- Global Delay
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to pupils with EHCPs, both in the classroom and through one-on-one or small group sessions.
- Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering lessons that meet the needs of SEN pupils.
- Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and support the monitoring of pupil progress.
- Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Support pupils in developing social skills and managing their behavior in a constructive manner.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure coordinated support for each pupil.
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly those with EHCPs, is highly desirable.
- A relevant qualification in education or child care (e.g., CACHE Level 3, NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, etc.) is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with special educational needs.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- A commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of children.
