Junior Design Engineer

We are looking for a versatile and motivated Junior Designer/Engineer to join our client. In this role, you will play a key part in both the design and manufacturing processes of their heritage lanterns. You will be involved in all phases of product development, working from initial concepts through to final production.

Their small, dedicated team is passionate about preserving historical aesthetics while ensuring products meet today's standards. They thrive on creativity, adaptability, and a strong sense of collaboration

Hours:

8.30am – 5pm Monday - Friday

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in designing heritage lanterns, ensuring that designs are both historically accurate and functionally robust.
  • Develop and refine detailed CAD models and engineering drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Interpret and produce engineering drawings that accurately communicate design intent for manufacturing.
  • Work closely with the manufacturing team to ensure designs are implemented effectively and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
  • Contribute to problem-solving during the design and production stages, addressing technical challenges with practical solutions.
  • Support the creation of design documentation and assist in preparing presentations for internal and client review.

Qualifications Required:

  • A qualification in engineering (e.g., degree, diploma, certificate, or equivalent).
  • Proficiency in CAD software, preferably Autodesk Inventor.
  • Experience in producing and reading engineering drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to handle various tasks within a small company.
  • Keen attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a close-knit team.

Qualifications Preferred:

  • Some experience in the design and manufacture of lighting fixtures or similar products.
  • An understanding of traditional design aesthetics, especially relating to heritage or historical products.
  • Hands-on experience in a manufacturing or workshop environment.

Skills:

  • Proficient in technical drawing and CAD modelling, especially using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Strong analytical and practical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a small team setting.
  • Creativity and an eye for detail in both design and execution.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as needed.
