Attendance Mentor

  • Pay: From £14 per hour

  • Job Type: Temporary, Full-time - Mon-Fri 9am-5pm

Placement due to start in September - As an Attendance Mentor, you will be working on a project for a prominent children's charity. You will play a crucial role in improving school attendance rates and promoting positive engagement among children and young people. You will work closely with students, families, schools, and relevant stakeholders to identify barriers to attendance, implement strategies, and provide ongoing support to address attendance issues. By working collaboratively, you will contribute to empowering children and young people to achieve their full potential.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Work directly with children, young people, and their families on an individual or group basis to identify needs and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Empower parents/carers to support their children's education and well-being.
  • Collaborate with children's services, health agencies, and community-based services to deliver effective support.
  • Handle complex cases and situations within the service.
  • Uphold safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Manage equipment and resources related to service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate case notes, contribute to report writing, and manage relevant information.
  • Promote, monitor, and maintain health, safety, and security in the working environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable children, young people, and families, including factors such as disadvantage, poverty, and disability.
  • A full UK driving licence and transport are essential, as the role involves traveling in the community.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, child welfare legislation, and service-related aims.
  • Experience in direct work with children, young people, and families.
  • NVQ level 3/4 or equivalent.
  • Registered with the DBS Update Service for Adults and Children.
