We are working with our client, a highly regarded law firm, to recruit a Senior Associate to join their Commercial team. This is a fantastic opportunity to become an integral part of their team, supporting clients primarily in the Financial Services, Retail, Leisure, and Digital sectors. Your role will involve working on a range of projects and providing advice relating to supply, procurement, outsourcing, partnership, licencing, distribution, and collaboration arrangements.

As a Senior Associate, you will be responsible for working on high-value, strategic projects and contractual arrangements within the technology and commercial team. This will include offering non-contentious advice on commercial projects such as framework agreements, supply agreements, payments, digital transformation, outsourcing, and collaborations. You will also play an active role in business development, including preparing pitches and tenders, providing training, and building client relationships. There may be opportunities for on-site client work, including virtual and in-person secondments. Additionally, you will have the chance to supervise, manage, and mentor more junior members of the team.

To be successful in this role, you must be:

  • A Qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 4 years of post-qualification experience in the Commercial or Technology team of a highly regarded law firm or relevant in-house legal team.
  • You should have experience advising in one of the key sectors, specifically financial services, retail, or digital.
  • Our client is particularly interested in candidates with a passion for supporting FS sector clients within the payments industry.
  • Strong technical abilities, including negotiating, drafting, and advising on contractual arrangements, are essential.
  • A client-focused approach and the ability to develop long-standing relationships are also important.

While not essential, experience in payments-related matters, such as merchant acquiring, card issuing, and payment-gateway, could be beneficial. Our client is also open to applicants with a broader commercial background who may not have payments-specific experience.
