Quantity Surveyor

Quantity Surveyor - to join a Civil Engineering contractor that based in near Southampton to work on new build housing groundworks packages. For example: schemes from 5 houses through to 500 houses. The individual will need to work well on their own (but still liaise with others as and when needed) and be competent to price works for the construction of: roads, houses, drainage etc. Accuracy is imperative

On successful projects the individual would be expected to survey and submit monthly applications and liaise with clients to ensure all additional works are captured - this is major part of the role checking for variations and maximising these while maintaining client relationships.

The ideal candidate will have at least 6 years' experience in Quantity Surveying within the Civil Engineering sector and will be responsible for working within a well-established team to ensure the work load is managed appropriately, positively influencing the efficiency of the business. The role will be primarily office based however will include the occasional site visit.

Quantity Surveyor Position Remuneration

  • £55k - £65k depending on experience
  • Holiday 24 days plus bank holiday

Quantity Surveyor Position Overview

  • Responsible for mentoring junior staff within the company
  • Responsible for management of commercial functions
  • Preparing bill of quantities under various methods of measurement
  • Feasibility studies
  • Processing tender documentation
  • Measuring works on site
  • Subcontractor payments
  • Processing payment applications
  • More specific duties will depend on the level of the individual as the role can be tailored appropriately.

Quantity Surveyor Position Requirements

  • 4+ experience.
  • Experience of NEC, JCT and ad hoc contracts
  • Experience in civils, groundworks and formworks
  • Take-offs, BoQ
  • Willing to put in the extra effort to get the job done efficiently and promptly
  • Proven track record of commitment to employer
  • Proactive in finding new business
  • Need to hit the ground running
  • Computer literate to at least intermediate
  • Excellent social and communication skills
  • Interviews any time, any weekday
