Payroll Officer

£28,000 to £32,000 + generous benefits
We Do Group are supporting a Surrey based, charitable foundation, recruiting a permanent Payroll Officer. This is a sole payroll position which will require a hands-on payroller, capable of managing a small payroll consisting of full-time and contract employee's.
The business use an external bureau for all payroll processing. This is the role to collate the information from the business then liaise with and check the work of the bureau.
The Role
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll and pension processing, including interim payments, overtime, sick pay, and bonuses.
- Collate and finalize data for starters, leavers, salary changes, and pensions for HR and Payroll systems.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to process payroll-related payments and address staff salary queries.
- Oversee staff absence records, liaise with HR, and ensure accurate sick certificates and absence data.
- Process and input monthly timesheets and additional hours into the payroll system.
- Manage administration of earnings orders, loan agreements, and related communications with staff and third parties.
- Prepare payroll reports, annual returns, and statutory audits, and answer ad hoc payroll queries.
- Administer payroll systems, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and pension legislation.
- Provide payroll-specific advice on legislative changes, tax, national insurance, and pension enrolment.
- Support HR and Finance teams during peak periods and undertake other tasks as directed by senior leadership.
Your Profile
- 2+ year's experience in a payroll position
- Effective communicator - written & verbal
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel
- High attention to detail
- Proactive problem solver
Salary & Benefits
£28,000 - £32,000 + benefits including bonus, 25 days holiday and optional free lunches! This role requires someone fully or predominantly office based.
