Location: North West

Full/Part Time: Full Time

Salary: £65,000 per annum + OTE

On behalf of our client, we are excited to offer an opportunity to become part of a top-tier Global Construction Underwriting team in the North West. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Construction Liability Underwriter to join a dynamic and well respected insurer within the market.

Responsibilities

  • Build and enhance relationships with brokers, industry associations, business partners, reinsurers, and colleagues to amplify influence and attain business goals.
  • Continuously advance expertise and technical acumen through suitable development programs.
  • Underwrite insurance risks in alignment with the business plan and personal authority, aiming to meet business objectives, which includes negotiating rates, terms, and conditions for both existing and new business.
  • Ensuring compliance with contract certainty requirements for the production and issuance of documentation.
  • Stay abreast of all advised Construction claims, offering input on settlements to inform future Underwriting strategies.
  • Assist in coordinating Risk Engineering activities for the existing portfolio, reviewing Risk Survey reports and seeking additional information when necessary.
  • Contribute to and influence the review and analysis of the portfolio, identifying progress toward business objectives.
  • Adhere to underwriting standards, instructions, and best practices to mitigate risk.

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong experience within the construction sector of the insurance industry, ideally with a sway more towards the industrial lines.
  • Effective and compelling communication skills, coupled with the capacity to challenge and persuade others.
  • Proficiency in analysing and utilising data to make informed decisions.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with pertinent market conditions pertaining to specific classes/portfolios.
  • Thorough understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks.
  • Comprehension of class-specific underwriting principles and reinsurance practices.
